The debut release of Dog Year by the Brooklyn indie-experimentalists, Miracles of Modern Science, on December 6, 2011 may have several people making significant changes to their "Best of 2011" lists. The band utilizes only a mandolin, violin, cello, standup bass, and drums to create infectious pop that redefines the stereotypical notions of these instruments. The project began at Princeton University and have already garnered a cult following in NYC. The album has so many brilliant tracks that we can't decide on just one.
