Debo Band is the 11-member outfit led by Ethiopian-American saxophonist, Danny Mekonnen. Debo will release their debut via Next Ambiance/Sub Pop on July 10, 2012. The immensely talented Boston-based band incorporates Ethiopian pop music using traditional scales and vocal styles, with American soul and funk rhythms. The instrumentation ranges from a sousaphone and accordion to electric and acoustic violins.
