Local Natives began working on Hummingbird in their new studio space, a formerly abandoned tattoo parlor on Sunset. The band spent the next eight months with songwriter and guitarist for The National, Aaron Dessner, before completing the full-length record. Taylor Rice, lead vocalist and guitarist, said they pushed for a new, more personal, direction.
